The God of Mischief is preparing to cause all kinds of chaos as he steps out from the shadow of his brother Thor, and into the spotlight of his own making in Marvel Studios LOKI …but it appears that perhaps his time may be on short lease!
There is no end to the mayhem that Tom Hiddleston is prepared to cause as he reprises his role as one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most popular and enigmatic villains in Marvel Studios LOKI. The Original Series is set to premiere on Disney+ on June, 11 hot on the heels of the success of WandaVision and the recent debut of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Given that the global pandemic has temporarily prevented movie theaters to work at full capacity, many of the studio’s big blockbusters have been put on a pause.
The series takes place in the moments following Loki’s final appearance in Avengers: Endgame as the villain, held momentarily in custody by our heroes after launching an alien invasion on New York City, escapes his captors with the use of the Tesseract Cube. What happens from there is anyone’s guess, but clearly, it had a profound impact on the character’s previous appearance and demise at the hand of the Mad Titan Thanos in the opening moments of Avengers; Infinity War. The original series is written by Michael Waldron and will be directed by Kate Herron.
The time-tripping escapade promises to spotlight Hiddleston’s very mischievous side and will co-star Owen Wilson as the head of a government agency that monitors discrepancies with the timeline. Given the focus that the Marvel Multiverse is being given in this new phase of its expanding narrative (the upcoming next installments of the Spider-Man and Doctor Strange films deal with alternate worlds), the events in Loki will likely have profound ramifications that will have long-standing consequences. It is likely that it will directly tie into the highly anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder in some fashion.
