As if the Marvel Cinematic Universe needed any more fixing enter the Sorcerer Supreme to unleash yet another unrelenting wave of uncertainty that is sure to have near and far-reaching consequences as predicted in the upcoming sequel’s trailer!
Someone call The Doctor! From the looks of things, it isn’t all as simple as just snapping your fingers to set things right — there are serious consequences that come with making earth-shattering, cosmic decisions that have consequences extending beyond just our realm of understanding. Not to mention, the occasional one-eyed monster and evil-doppelganger one must muster upon daring to follow Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The trailer for the sequel to the 2016 hit film starring Benedict Cumberbatch is out and turning the MCU inside out!
Although Cumberbatch’s Master of the Mystic Arts has remained an extremely relevant component in the long-leading narrative leading up to the conclusion of Marvel Studios’ last phase with Avengers: Endgame and most recently with the box-office blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home Stephen Strange’s journey as the Earth’s most powerful sorcerer has gotten out of hand! Opening the floodgates into the MCU’s multiverse in an effort to help Peter Parker (Tom Holland) with his own identity crisis may not have been the wisest direction to take, and was clearly just the first step…
…into madness!
Directed by Sam Raimi, who spun the first web of intrigue with 2002’s Spider-Man starring Tobey Maquire, who returned to reprise his role as the titular Marvel hero battling side-by-side with Holland’s web-slinger, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may appear the studio’s most ambitious, if not biggest feature, yet and is angling to pull apart everything that fans know — or think they know — about the Marvel Cinematic Universe up until this point! Here’s your #FANSEYEVIEW of the new trailer for Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Madness:
Similarly connecting extensive narratives from across the MCU, the sequel will reunite Strange with his trusted ally Wong (Benedict Wong) who has taken a more proactive role in events as of late. The story will also bring WandaVision and Avengers: Endgame co-star Elizabeth Olsen into the mix, reprising her role as Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, who will have a significant presence to play. Other surprises are in store for diehard fans as rumors have circulated the movie will introduce the MCU’s Illuminati and the familiar voice of Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor X in the X-Men will make an appearance.
This will mark the founder of the X-Men’s first appearance in the context of the MCU and may also invite the re-introduction of Anson Mount who portrayed Black Bolt in the short-lived Inhumans television series. Other members of the Illuminati have included Iron Man/Tony Start (who is deceased after the events of Avengers: Endgame), Namor, the Submariner (who is rumored to be a villain in the upcoming Black Panther sequel), and Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic leader of the Fantastic Four (which is currently in reboot development at Marvel Studios).
Marvel Studios’ DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS | starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong with Rachel McAdams directed by Sam Raime will premiere only in theaters on May 6, 2022.
