Trailer | DC’s BLACK ADAM Debuts First Trailer

The latest big-screen comic book adaptation is the Dwayne Johnson vehicle “Black Adam” who will be bringing the Golden Age of DC’s comic book era to life in theaters before the character moves on to take on his greatest adversary…

Hear that sound? It’s the sound of thunder on the horizon and anxious fans devouring the “First Look” full-length trailer for Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson and premiering in theaters in October. The film which has been in development since before the pandemic is centered on the DC Comics super villain and classic antagonist to Captain Marvel or Shazam (as the Fawcett Comics character has become more widely known due to the legalities surrounding another popular imprint that has claims on the brand, although the DC hero came first).

Only in recent times has Black Adam begun to emerge as an anti-hero and defender of the people of his native Kahndaq, the Egyptian nation, and historically is the original vessel chosen by the wizard Shazam to be his champion on Earth. As a villain, he’s always been the toughest opponent of The Marvel Family, but as his popularity grew in the Modern Era of comics, creatives began to texturize Black Adam’s backstory and elaborate more on the man Teth-Adam turning him into a savior who chooses his own means in his quest for justice. Black Adam has since risen into the ranks of the Justice League and serves as one of its current active members, who was vouched for by Superman.

The film had been announced as part of the line-up revealed existing inside the DC Extended Cinematic Universe as far back as 2009, with Johnson in the lead, and would also star Pierce Brosnan in the role of Dr. Fate, with Aldis Hodge assuming the part of the winged wonder Hawkman, both of whom appear to represent the membership of the Justice Society of America, the DC Comics “Golden Age” heroes that predate the Justice League. Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is expected to also play a major role in the scheduled sequel to Shazam! Fury of the Gods starring Zachary Levi and Helen Mirren.
