The Blessed Madonna & Kylie Minogue join forces on “EDGE OF SATURDAY NIGHT” and once again prove the power of dance music and its power to elevate with a new track from the upcoming DJ/producer’s debut album.
The summer music circuit season may be hitting its crescendo, but that hasn’t slowed the speed limit on artists churning out new music and dance tracks that will keep the heat on into the fall. Chief among those pop/dance acts that don’t appear ready to take their polished stilettoes off the gas is Kylie Minogue. The Pop Goddess of Love has been busily riding the success of her 2023 full-length album Tension, which yielded a hit single and worldwide phenomenon “Padam Padam,” garnering the artist one of the most successful tracks of her decades-long dominance.
Minogue didn’t go quietly into the summer and has shined her light on a series of collaborations that have included pairings alongside Sia, Diplo, and country artist Orville Peck, and most recently, the three-tiered confection “My Oh My” featuring Bebe Rexha and Tove Lo. That’s not meriting her onstage moment with the Queen of Pop, Madonna, during her record-breaking “Celebration” Tour, a duet that was years in the making. All this music has made for a remarkable play on the part of Kylie Minogue, but it feels like she hasn’t even crest the top of the pop hill, certainly not yet!
The Blessed Madonna has enjoyed an incredible career spanning the world and reviving the mystique that had long followed DJs on the music circuit. Her remix productions have included reworkings for Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Madonna, Missy Elliott, and numerous others, and have paved the way for the DJ mix master to turn her talents inward and focus on her first full-length album project. Arming herself for a full-throttle release in October, Godspeed is a collection of music works that span the gauntlet of soulful house-inspired tracks with deeply motivating contemporary dance sensibilities.
Quoted in an article on rollingstone.com, The Blessed Madonna chronicled her long road and the bumps that led to the album's genesis. She said: “When I was given the opportunity to begin an album, we were on the edge of [COVID] lockdown… I was on the edge of a brand new life.” Inspired by a DJ set in Berlin, The Blessed Madonna conceived of a track entitled “Edge of Saturday Night,” eventually navigating it into Minogue’s orbit, who, as TBM put it: “She [Kylie] breathed an energy into ‘Edge’ and into me. So here we are together.”
The track is riveting, with muscular production and a unique bass riff that beautifully complements Minogue’s deeper vocal register. It is structured around a pulsing urgency that lands a series of piano keys in a chorus that pulls relentlessly!
